Can a Phone Change the Society We Live In?! Really?!

So there is this new windows 7 phone ad… Is it bad that I don’t get it?! Am I missing something? Are THEY missing something… Watched it like 4 times, laughed, but I still don’t get it! Really?!

AdAge just informed us that this ad has been viewed the most on other mobile devices such as BlackBerries and iPhones… well duh! And why is that, because people actually act the way they are portrayed on the ad. Really! But the thing is that we are not addicted to our phones, we are addicted to being connected. To constantly having an inflow of information. I mean, I am on my iphone pretty much all the time because it brings me news, texts, gossip, emails… push notifications of all sorts that the world is out there waiting for me to know all the things that are happening… but then I am on my phone reading about them and not really experiencing the world that is around me.

But I don’t think it is my phone’s fault. Because if it wasn’t an iPhone, it would be a crackberry, or a droid, or any other device with internet connection- laptop, computer, ipad, any other tablet or gadget that brings me information! Or for crying out loud, I was checking my phone for texts constantly even before 3G was invented!

So my question dearest Windows, how will your phone change that?!

Your ad is a very accurate portrayal of our society. Very to the point! Really! But does your phone send the information directly to my brain through some sort of electrical impulses so I know what is going on without actually having to look at my phone?! If it is so you right on point and I am definitely considering your phone! But if not… I still don’t get it.

Diesel: Definitely Not Stupid

Saw the new Diesel underwear campaign on Fashion Foie Gras this morning, and it made me happy!

Everyone knows the BE STUPID campaign, I would not go as far as everyone loves it, although I am pretty positive there are quite a few fans out there, and I am certainly a fan.

The new underwear ads are just as scandalous and funny. The tag line is “Today I am…” and i think definitely they are!

I know they are a bit racy, but in the same time Diesel know who the target audience is, they know who their consumer is, and they know how to market to that consumer using fun and sex- because that consumer likes fun and sex. Nothing wrong with that. Of course I highly doubt Vogue will publish these ads, but I also doubt Diesel want to be in Vogue with these ads. It is a very thoughtful campaign. Good job Diesel, yet again!

The World As We Know It…

… is always changing, especially if we are talking about the social media world.

The genius comic xkcd published a new improved map of the online communities world last week, and I have been meaning to share it here for a while, but I guess was distracted by pretty shoes… oops!

Online Communities 2

You should definitely click on the link and explore this masterpiece of topographic genius in a close up, as it is truly hilarious. I spent quite some time feeling like an adventurous explorer in this familiar yet unknown land of social media places of interest.

And after having felt like a tourist in my hometown I completed the exploration and thought… I have seen that, but not quite that… wait a minute… and after few clicks there it was…

The previous topographic masterpiece from like 3 years ago (yeah, you guessed it I have been an avid xkcd fan for quite some time). This is the map that was published quite some time ago…

Online Communities Original

The fascinating thing is how much our world has changed for like 3 years… communities have shifted, new countries have emerged, the great exodus from myspace to facebook has been completed, some parts of the social media land have sunk into the ocean of nonexistence… the map now is significantly different from the map 3 years ago.

And I got to thinking what is there to come? What is going to be the topography of 2013? That is what makes me happy with social media is that we don’t really know, because the next facebook might come up tomorrow (and yes I use facebook as a metaphor for “the next big thing”, how cute is that?) But whatever comes up, it will be an exciting adventure to explore it too…

Shoes of the Year

Christian Louboutin’s crystal-embellished mesh peep-toe Maralena pump was voted the sexiest show of the year.

Really?! They cost $2,44…

A bit too much sparkle and mesh for me…

Lanvin for H&M: Coming Soon!

Gorgeous ensembles were featured in the first ad for Lanvin’s collection for H&M.

And I do agree with Emily from Fashion Foie Gras that the gray haired lady looks like Uncle Karl’s sister… 🙂

So the countdown has begun! 12 days and the collection will hit stores… so get your patience on and mentally prepare for long lines!

Image Stylist

Scandalous! Glee for GQ

Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, and Cory Monteith a.k.a. Rachel, Quinn and Finn from Glee posed for a spread in GQ shot by Terry Richardson. The images created quite a stir!

In my opinion Diana and Cory look fine in all the pictures and Lea is completely going overboard on the sexy.

Look at the full spread at GQ and share your thoughts… is it ok because it is GQ and both actresses are 24 years old or is completely out of all propriety because they portray high-schoolers and the photoshoot is in a school?

The Huffington post created a survey about people opinions and it is quite divided:
