It is great to see a singer in a simple kind of way. Without hype. Without much glamour. Without crazy clothes, hair, make up or a ton of props. Just talent and voice. That’s what music is all about right?
As I have blogged before I am excited for the Karl Lagerfeld for Macy’s collection. Now as there is a sneek peek preview for some of the pieces, and I have found my perfect tee (bellow), the excitement is great!
Macy’s have made a great video from the behind the scenes process of making the collection. Please note the atmosphere and the creativity that streams from every corner in this video. Also the speed with wich Karl sketches! It is intense! I am pretty sure that if I get to meet uncle Karl will shit my pants from intimidation.
And let’s finish with the thoughts of Coco Rocha, it is so wonderful to be able to own pieces by Karl Lagerfeld at an affordable price. Priceless actually!
I have been in a love-hate relationship with polka dots, since I was a child. I still am. One of my first sartorial memories from my mom’s closet was a wonderful black and white polka dot dress- knee lenght, short sleeves, little turtle neck, with lace apliquet on the chest. Designed by my grandmother, it was wonderful! I absolutely loved that dress, and couldn’t wait to grow up to wear it. But then growing up, every piece of clothing in polka dot pattern I put on, made me look ridiculous, simply because polka dots were not that much in fashion and I was ridiculed by friends. So after a long low period with nothing polka dot in my closet, I started with small steps. First it was a little scarf, then a little applique detail, then a skirt and now I am back in love with the idea of a polka dot dress. I guess I found my own inner peace and don’t care about mocking, ridicule or what is in fashion per-say any more.
So recently I was looking for cool polka dot dresses, firmly decided to blog about this story and you can imagine who bewildered I was when I found a whole style report section on WWW for the polka-dots.
So after this inspiration from WWW, I assume polka dots are back in style. Black, white, red, small, large, full on dresses or simply a detail, polka dots are everywhere. So here are some dresses are strike my fancy, to replace the vintage mommy’s dress in my grown up life, until I dig through her closet and find if it is still in existence.
The video is cool! I am a big fan of music videos from real life settings travel, concerts, fan meet-ups… It just seems so real and makes the “stars” from the glossy videos a bit more reachable and human. And of course in this video we can see all the different hairstyles the blogosphere has been writing about, as well as the high-waisted hot pants. Hot or not?
However on a first listen, there was something that bothered me in the song. The “Yeah Yeah” part after each verse was very familiar, and I realized with the help of google that it is Avril Lavigne’s song ‘”I’m with You”. Check out Avriln’s video after 2:21. So my most normal question is – is it ripped off or is it a collaboration? I’m pretty sure Avril is in Rihanna’s video, above, but hell… if you put a key phrase from someone else’s song, quote them in the title! It’s not that hard!
