Lady Gaga

Gaga in Armani or Armani for Gaga

Armani designed the costumes for the Asian leg of the Gaga Born This Way Ball Tour. The creations above are very Gaga-like and I am excited to see them for real this spring. There are feathers, latex, studs, PVC, basically everything that is not conventional clothing material.

The Dreamteam- Gaga and Annie for VF

Gaga is on the cover of Vanity Fair, and as alsways this means that there is an amazingly amazing photoshoot to follow by Annie Leibovitz. Styled by Nicola Formichetti Gaga embodies different types personalities from serene and natural, to glam and aristocratic, to diva in the city. Of course there is a nude frame, but what else do you expect when you get Annie and Gaga together.

The article is deeper than I expected, perhaps because somehow I can identify with certain parts. Anyhow, it will be a great issue for VF and of course it shows that Lady Gaga hasn’t lost her bang.

Gaga as a Nymph

Is it me or it is weird to see Lady Gaga with almost no make up on?

Google Just Made Me Cry

I am a sucker for a great ad. Always been. Always will be. So when I see a great ad,  I am able to appreciate it. But then, there are few amazing ones that just give me goosebumps or like the ones I am going to share bellow just make me tear up like a baby.

Advertising is powerful. It is one of the closest things to brainwashing there is, so to be successful in advertising, you have to play on the strings of your audience’s hearts. Google Chrome’s ads in the UK, are way beyond powerful and successful. They are simply amazing.

The main message is “the web is what you make of it”, and the 5 ads share different human stories of how different people used the web for different purposes. Chrome as the main gateway to the web, of course is in the background, but it is never showed per-say, it is the tool that all the people use to create their messages, share their views and connect with others. The people featured in the ads are Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Jamal Edwards founder of, Dan Savage founder of and a dad, who writes emails to his daughter since the day she was born. The stories are greatly cut, the soundtracks are powerful and the messages of each and every person in the ads are so touching and personal. They are chosen in such a way that a different fragment of society associates with them – the Bieber fanatics aka all teens, the monsters – different, fashionable, Gaga-lovers, the gays and all pro-gay people, of course the parents, the ambitious youngsters who strive to “make it”. Can’t think of a better defined cross section of society. Fascinating!

The ad about the dad, was the first one I saw in the blogosphere. I watched it several times, because it is so intricate in the details and messages, and every single time I got goosebumps. It is so pure and wonderful. Reminds me of a conversation that I had with one of my closest friends, who is a mother, that her son has thousands of videos and pictures, and when he grows up he will be able to see all the silly moments and all the love, and relive every breath of his childhood. Things that we as children from another generation can’t, simply because we have only a few pictures a year from birthday parties and holidays. Now with technology, you can record the life of your child and send them messages of love constantly. Don’t know whether I am too emotional and attached to my family, but the whole idea touches me deeply.

The one that actually made me cry and touched me the most was the ad with Dan Savage. I have been a fan of It Gets Better since the beginning of this cause, and I firmly believe in it. Although not gay myself, the cause for equality and the very message that “ït get’s better” is very powerful to me.  It is so real and great to see that there are people who believe in you, even if they don’t know you. Amazing! I was in the USA last year when all these innocent kids were bullied, and there we incidents because of that. I am right now living in a country where it is not accepted to be completely and openly gay, and can’t even imagine what it is to be a teenager in the society here. So the cause and messages in this ad are more than powerful and grand.

Lady Gaga is on Tumblr

My little discovery of a social network Tumblr is gaining more and more popularity! The latest mega-person with an account on tumblr is no other than the Mother Monster herself. Lady Gaga shines in her high-fashion glory in her new page titled AMEN+FASHION. The content is not much, but still some of the imagery are quite interesting.

Except the high fashion imagery, there are quotes- kinda crazy, kinda weird and part wise…

So AMEN+FASHION is added to my tumblrs, hopefully she will keep it up with more fun and different imagery.

It is very cool how she uses all social media tools in exactly the right way. Tumblr is very much about being different, beautiful and cool. She nails it. So after being one of the top people on twitter, one of the most watched accounts on youtube and one of the most celebrities on facebook, now she has new social media horizons to reach. The beginning looks quite promising.

Edge of Glory

The new Gaga video is pretty simple, compared to the outrageousness of Judas and the cinematographic qualities of the videos from the previous album. The song is pretty catchy, reminds me a lot of old pop songs, especially the sax part.

The styling is something everyone talked about – leather and gold from the last collection of the legendary Gianni Versace. It is very Pretty Woman meet Catwoman, but I guess it works for Gaga, as always… this lady can pull basically anything off.

Gaga’s Judas

I have got to share it and ask what’s happening with Gaga? It is a bit too much for me. And the video is ridic, who did the choreography?!! But of course it has been seen about 34.5 million times on youtube, so she is still hitting some right notes for a lot of people…

Lady Gaga Keeps Ruling The World

Born This Way is Gaga’s new single, and it’s been out for a week now. Officially it is the fastest selling single on iTunes… EVER!

The so claimed new gay anthem is pretty awesome, and up-lifting. “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”, like seriously!

Lady Gaga for Polaroid: Gray Label

For me Polaroid is something like an antique – this amazing camera from my childhood, that spits the pictures out, and then you shake them and voilà! They are iconic brand, but in the same time, not the first choice when you talk about a camera, and definitely not the lead when you start talking about coolness and innovation.

That was until now. Since the beginning of 2010 Polaroid has had Lady Gaga as their creative director, and the collaboration has resulted in Polaroid’s new products – Gray Label that include GL10 Instant Mobile Printer, GL20 Camera Glasses and GL30 Instant Digital Camera. The brand presented them this week at the Consumer Electronics Show, and definitely has been in the news ever since.

Gaga is like the golden egg, she turns all she touches in high-fashion- crazy ideas- buzzing amazingness, and Polaroid knew that very well, before they offered her the collaboration. I am not really seeing myself with a pair of camera glasses that shows my photos on LED screens on top of the lenses… but I am more than certain there are a ton of other little monsters that would be more than glad to be “trendsetters” and “express themselves” is this way. So we shall see what happens when the buzz subsides, and Polaroid shows their sale numbers. But apart from sales, yes, it was a marvelous rebranding idea, I must say. In with the hip, out with the antique.

Gagaversity Class

How do you know you are amazingly awesome and successful?! When there is a class about you taught in university.

So yep, Lady gaga is awesome indeed. (or she has very devoted fans who happen to be scholars)

Why you ask? Because Professor Mathieu Deflem in University of South Carolina is going to teach a class on her next semester. The class is going to be called Lady Gaga and the Sociology of the Fame, and I wish I could take it. The main goal is to explore what makes a person famous and what being famous means in today’s culture, and I am curious what the professor has to say.

Fame is a complex issue, especially in a world where a person can be “famous” because they bitch in video format om YouTube about last night’s TV shows or blog about someone’s latest fashion endeavor. So for Gaga, who has a billion hits on YouTube, sells out concert tickets for full venues in the matter of minutes, and has been one of the most talked about personalities in the world for the past couple of years… yep fame is definitely something to say she has.

I just hope the professor keeps the class fun and interesting, because it will be unfortunate if it turns out to be a gag.

I went to see the Monster Ball and this shot is basically my favourite part of the whole show- Gaga laying on the piano hitting a note with her heel and her band improvising on it. Genius!
