Dior at Harrods: Must See. Must Feel. Must Experience.

Last week I was in one of my favourite cities in the world and my ex-home – London. To be honest I did not do any touristy things, but used my time to see friends, shop and visit something extraordinary – The Christian Dior exhibit at Harrods.

The Dior exhibit was amazing. Honestly for the 40 minutes I was there, it felt like heaven! The pictures can’t really do it justice, because seeing sketches by Christian Dior himself, the dress Charlize Theron wore in the J’Adore Commercial or Princess Diana’s Blue dress is priceless and can’t really be described.

The exhibition was divided into several rooms, which told the story of the most emblematic Dior pieces and products.

The J’Adore room was amazing. Exhibited were the dresses from the ads and the floor was covered with bottles of J’Adore.

The Lady Dior room was impressive, all was dedicated to the bag, from the basic parts of it to artful interpretations.

The whole place was full of fashion, history and luxe.

The most breathtaking piece was a white flowery organza dress that was exquisite! The detail of it is simply impossible, as it is all covered in delicate organza flowers ranging from purple to white, to give the impression of a gorgeous Monet paining.

So this was a part of the Dior world I experienced. Definitely would recommend it to everyone who is in London until mid-april. And last but not least, the men who are taking you around the exhibit and greeting you at the entrance are the most beautiful male creatures I have seen, if Ken was alive, he would be one of these guys. 🙂

Looking Back in Time

Exactly a year ago I left London, after living on the South Bank for almost a year. Deep in my heart I miss the vibrancy, the crowds, the life, the colors and the pace. I miss seeing these sights every day. I miss walking on Waterloo bridge in the wind. Miss strolling on the Queens Walk. Even miss feeling like a tiny ant in the crowd on Waterloo station. I catch myself reminiscing about the times there, although I used to grunt about life at such an overcrowded place constantly while there.

Found this movie, that captures the little precious moments of life on the South Bank, so I hope you enjoy it.

Timing is everything for Levi’s

Levi’s new European ad campaign, created by W+K, is out.  It is looking to ensure a better future for the world, engage with young people and through enigmatic words and strong visuals to talk in a way very few ads talk. The ad is terrific. It is strong, very visual and talks to your deepest ambitions and desires. It is all about going forth and shaping your own better future. A message that is much stronger than just, buy a pair of jeans. However, the timing is horrible!

London is on fire, due to youngsters rioting on the street of the city, and sad, but true this spirit of freedom and changing the world can definitely be read in a wrong way. This is how important timing is. Ads carry the spirit of the society, and when the society is on fire, it is not a good idea to put oil in it. I am not completely agreeing to the bloggers, who bash the ad as violent. It is one of these pieces that talk to your subconscience and you read it through your own lens and experience.

Time for Something Pretty and Sweet

You know when you decide to go on a cleanse, and then all the ferocious cravings just cripple in your mind, and there are little things that you miss, want, need, and badly fantasize about? That time is kind of now for me, as yes it is time for spring body cleanse AND there is one thing that I miss, Oh so much… cupcakes!

Cupcakes are the little gourmet trend that I am a devoted follower to. I can give 6-7 dollars for a cupcake and it will be well worth the three bites. The sad thing is that I haven’t found the perfect bakery here that make real cupcakes, so perhaps I should think about a new venture. But down memory lane there are so many good cupcake times…

Love at first bite (and still my favourite in the whole wide world) was Hello Cupcake on Dupont Circle in DC. The favourite one there – heart of darkness. (I have been told it is made for me 🙂 ) But it is heaven-sent!

Then there came Hummingbird Bakery in Soho, when I lived in London. Ohm the red velvet is divine!

And then of course, when I was back in DC, I discovered the now so very famous Georgetown Cupcake (which are not THAT amazing, but still pretty darn good).

So while reminiscing about the amazingness the cupcakes provide to the taste buds, I decided to look for a little visual on tumblr. And oh boy, what a gallery there is…  that is another great thing about cupcakes – they soooo pretty!!! So here is my little sweet  slideshow (plus a couple of shots of my own cupcake- archives) 🙂

Ralph Lauren in 4D

Ralph Lauren celebrates the 10th year anniversary of their digital presence by creating and incredible display of  imagery, sounds and a scent of perfume… The ad or should I say performances are played on the facades of the RL stores in London (Bond Street) and New York (Madison Avenue).

Quite impressive!

And this is the full video of this fusion of art, technology and fashion.
